Hen chases dog away from cornbread crumbs

Rebecca captured this moment in her Tennessee backyard as Pepper, a dog, attempted to nibble on cornbread crumbs. A Silkie hen, positioned nearby with her chicks, stepped forward to assert dominance. The hen moved in tight, quick bursts, pecking at the dog to force her to shift her paws and pull her head back.

Despite Pepper’s attempts to edge back in for another bite, the hen remained relentless, pressing the dog away from the food source. The chicks stayed clustered safely near their mother throughout the brief negotiation. Eventually, Pepper decided the crumbs were not worth the trouble, turned, and walked off, leaving the hen to resume her quiet routine.
