Bee paddles in tight circles across backyard swimming pool

A bee is filmed skimming and turning in tight circles across the surface of a swimming pool. The insect paddles to stay afloat while drifting along the water in a backyard in Gibbstown, New Jersey. The clip captures a brief, oddly orderly moment of nature playing out in an everyday domestic setting, ending with the bee flying away safely.

This clip travels because it presents a familiar backyard scene with an unexpected, almost motorboat-like quality to the bee’s movement. The filmer, who is afraid of bees, found the situation surprisingly funny. The orderly, deliberate circling against the mundane backdrop of a residential pool creates a charming and slightly absurd visual that is both relatable and delightful.
