Shahed drone explodes midair over Kyiv

High above the capital, searchlights lock onto the silhouette of an incoming Shahed drone. Mobile air defense units immediately open fire, sending bright streams of tracer rounds and anti-aircraft artillery into the pitch-black sky. The defensive rounds strike home, detonating the drone’s high-explosive warhead while it remains fully airborne and sweeping low toward its target.

The sudden orange fireball shatters the aircraft midflight, scattering burning carbon-fiber fragments into the darkness long before the craft can reach the city below. This dramatic visual of aerial interception captures the intense reality of modern air defense, making the footage highly shareable for its clarity and dramatic timing.
